Since launching the DRX-1 wireless x-ray detector, Carestream Health has shipped more than 9,000 units, the company announced. The technology allows users to retrofit x-ray rooms and portable imaging systems from CR to DR technology. The systems are used in a range of environments including surgical suites, ER and ICU areas, radiology departments, clinics, imaging centers, nursing homes, and field military hospitals.

“Our innovative family of wireless DRX detectors, imaging systems and specialized software delivers excellent image quality while enabling healthcare providers to improve productivity and control costs,” said Diana L. Nole, president of digital medical solutions for Carestream.

The systems are designed to improve workflow and patient care by producing digital x-ray images in about 5 seconds. The company’s product line includes the DRX-Revolution mobile x-ray system, DRX-1 systems, DRX-Mobile retrofit kit, DRX-evolution system, DRX-Transportable system, DRX-Ascend systems, and the Q-Rad-Digital DRX-series from Quantum Medical Imaging (sold through Quantum Medical Imaging, a division of Carestream).
