Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, Ga has been leveraging Toshiba America Medical Systems’ Aquilion ONE CT system for its emergency and trauma patients. The unit’s Single Energy Metal Artifact Reduction (SEMAR) technology helps limit streak artifacts due to metal implants.

“The Aquilion ONE has allowed me to be the best neuroradiologist that I can be,” said Peter Britt, MD, section chief of neuroradiology, Memorial University Medical Center. “Its focus on safety with dose reduction and diagnostic accuracy with its SEMAR technology makes it our best CT solution and the one we rely on most for safe, reliable procedures.”

Memorial Health has been using the Aquilion ONE system intensively in its emergency care and trauma areas, among the facility’s largest service offerings. The CT system also includes AIDR 3D dose reduction technology, which maintains image quality while increasing patient safety.

“As a high-volume facility that sees a large number of emergency situations every day, Memorial Health needed a system that moved as quickly as they did,” said Satrajit Misra, senior director of the CT business unit at Toshiba. “By using the Aquilion ONE, they are ensuring that quality and safety are not a choice they or their patients have to make.”
