MedInformatix, an EHR provider, has announced a partnership with Vestrum Health, a patent-pending platform designed to help radiology practices aggregate and leverage their EHR data for analytics and clinical research. The deal will ensure that clients using MedInformatix software suite will be compatible with the Vestrum platform.
“We are thrilled to form this new partnership with Vestrum,” said Pat McGonigle, president of MedInformatix. “They share our vision to use new and innovative technologies to transform the way healthcare is practiced in our country and to make the use of electronic health records an efficient and effective function for practices and physicians.”
The Vestrum Health platform is allows physicians to securely transmit their EHR data to the company’s proprietary database, where patient information is blinded in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA). Participating physicians will have access to the data for research. Significantly, practices and physicians choosing to license their blinded data will receive royalty payments for revenue generated from the data sales. According to Vestrum, the platform interfaces with any EHR software and there are no fees for physician participation.
“We look forward to making our platform available to users of the MedInformatix system,” said Nadeem Ahmad, chief operating officer at Vestrum Health. “Royalty payments have never been shared with physicians before and our technology gives physicians and practices the ability to finally capture a monetary return on their EHR investment. In the end, patients and the larger healthcare industry benefits too, as our platform increases the incentive to use EHR data for clinical research use.”
