In a press release, the Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA) voiced support for Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Ranking Member Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) for their leadership in the Senate passage of bipartisan legislation to prevent the premature closure of the Federal Helium Reserve, scheduled for October.

The High Technology Jobs Preservation Act (H.R. 527) passed by a roll call vote of 97 to 2.

The Federal Helium Reserve provides approximately 50% of the nation’s supply of helium, which is a critical component used in the creation and operation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines.
