Medical imaging businesses adopt Samsung branding.
Samsung Medison announced that its US medical imaging businesses, previously operating as NeuroLogica and Boston Imaging, will unify under a new corporate identity, Samsung HME (Healthcare and Medical Equipment) America. The change brings the company’s US ultrasound, digital radiography, and computed tomography (CT) operations under a single structure.
The move reflects Samsung’s broader effort to align its US imaging operations with its global brand and streamline its portfolio.
“This milestone represents more than a name change,” says Kyu Tae Yoo, CEO of Samsung Medison and division head of Samsung HME at Samsung Electronics, in a release. “It reflects the growth of our U.S. medical imaging organization and our continued focus on healthcare providers nationwide.”
The announcement follows a period of expansion across Samsung’s US imaging portfolio, including product development efforts and increased engagement with health systems. The company said it is scaling its US presence as demand for imaging technologies evolves.
“This new chapter as Samsung HME America strengthens how we connect with customers and partners while giving us the flexibility to innovate,” says Tracy Bury, chief commercial officer, in a release. “With a unified organization, we can deliver greater consistency and a more streamlined experience across ultrasound, digital radiography, and CT.”
Recent developments cited by the company include the introduction of the Samsung R20 and Z20 ultrasound systems, which incorporate AI-enabled features, and the acquisition of Sonio, a France-based company focused on AI-assisted prenatal ultrasound. Samsung has also expanded its digital radiography portfolio, with a focus on dose management and workflow improvements.
Samsung HME America will continue to serve as the global headquarters and manufacturing center for the company’s CT business, including development of point-of-care platforms and photon-counting detector technology.
The rebranding will take effect as the company continues to roll out new technologies and partnerships, according to a release from the company.
