Sonio, a med-tech company focusing on women’s and children’s health, has received approval from the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance for the acquisition of 100% of its shares by Samsung. This follows Sonio’s second FDA clearance in 2024 and its deployment across multiple sites in the U.S.

“Alongside Samsung Medison, we are excited to make significant strides in maternal care and continue advancing diagnostic software globally, especially in underserved areas,” says Cécile Brosset, CEO of Sonio.

AI-Powered Ultrasound Solutions

Founded in 2020, Sonio has developed an AI-powered reporting and workflow solution for obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound, supported by early investors Elaia, Bpifrance, OneRagtime, Cross Border Impact Ventures, and the EIC Fund.

Kyu Tae Yoo, CEO of Samsung Medison, notes, “With the workforce shortages affecting the global healthcare industry, the real-time ultrasound exam guidance and quality assurance developed by Sonio is becoming more relevant to ensure high quality care. We look forward to combining Sonio’s and Samsung’s advanced engineering to enhance our ultrasound roadmap and introduce next generation AI technologies to the market. We will focus on innovations designed to enhance exam quality, efficiency, and ultimately improve patient care.”.

Sonio will maintain independent commercial growth while developing products compatible with all ultrasound manufacturers. “We remain committed to providing equal access to high-end technology and quality maternal healthcare globally,” adds Brosset.
