Building a strong, mutually beneficial relationship with referring physicians is a key component for the success of any imaging center. But it’s a relationship that can be sorely tested if it becomes inconvenient for either party.

To improve the referring physician experience and optimize workflow, Tri-City Radiology, a multi-modality imaging center in Kennewick, Wash., recently chose RamSoft’s PowerServer RIS/PACS. Among the features that sold the center administrators on the PowerServer were its worklist-driven functionality, ability to read from anywhere, and platform-independent referring physician portal.

The PowerServer RIS/PACS is a full-featured, fully customizable, web-based application running on a single server and database. It supports all modalities and is designed to be a complete management and diagnostic solution, according to the company.

The Referring Physician Portal—which was instrumental in selling Tri-City on the PowerServer—is a flashed-based, platform independent program that works on any operating system wherever there is an Internet connection. This has improved Tri-City’s day-to-day tasks of those involved in scheduling, interpretation, and delivery of diagnostic exams from the referring physician to the scheduler to the technologist to the radiologist, and consequently has improved the patient experience—which helps motivate referring patients to continue using Tri-City’s services.
