TomoTherapy Inc., of Madison, Wis., has partnered with radiation therapy solution provider and Elekta subsidiary Medical Intelligence to enhance stereotactic radiosurgery capabilities of the TomoTherapy Hi·Art treatment system.

On display in TomoTherapy’s booth at the annual meeting of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology in Los Angeles is a head frame fixation and repositioning device — a works-in-progress prototype of the first product to be developed through the new partnership.

The Hi·Art system integrates CT imaging and a helical delivery pattern for increased accuracy and precision of intensity-modulated radiation therapy. According to TomoTherapy, more and more clinicians are using its system for stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic radiation therapy.

More than 150 TomoTherapy Hi·Art treatment systems have been installed since 2003 in cancer treatment centers around the world.
