The FDA has awarded 510(k) clearance to Siemens Healthcare for Advanced Modeled Iterative Reconstruction (ADMIRE), a new image reconstruction algorithm for computed tomography that enables previously unachievable levels of dose reduction.
A supplement to SAFIRE, Siemens’ Sinogram Affirmed Iterative Reconstruction (SAFIRE) algorithm which can achieve up to 60% dose reduction, ADMIRE minimizes the tradeoff that often occurs in image quality to lower radiation dose. The algorithm uses modeling loops that deliver improved resolution at high-contrast edges. By improving reconstructed image quality and generating images with a natural image impression, ADMIRE can produce both high image quality and as low as reasonably achievable radiation doses.
Along with SAFIRE, ADMIRE is available on the Somatom Force, Siemens’ dual-source CT system.
