Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital, a 250-bed facility in Bloomington, Ind, has installed two Carestream DRX-Revolution mobile x-ray systems with DRX-1C detectors, the company has announced. The systems will improve patient access to portable exams at the hospital, which performs 1,200 portable exams each month.

“Our physicians appreciate prompt access to images for patients in the ER, critical care, surgery and recovery areas, and for bedside exams,” said Bruce Riley, the hospital’s diagnostic imaging radiology manager. “Our technologists report the DRX-Revolution systems are much easier to position for bedside exams than other mobile systems and equip them to capture an excellent image the first time.”

The hospital has been using Carestream imaging systems for the last decade, and also has three Carestream digital radiography rooms and three computed radiography systems. After purchasing the first DRX-Revolution, Riley discovered that the system was performing 90% of portable diagnostic exams.

“Technologists were waiting for this system to be available because it was so much faster and easier to use than our computed radiography-based portables,” Riley said. The hospital purchased a second system to expedite portable exams. The system provides wireless access to images in as little as 5 seconds.
