GE HealthCare announces that Pa.-based St. Luke’s University Health Network has ordered 21 of its CT systems, marking the company’s largest-ever CT deal in the United States. This order, which builds upon the 30-year partnership between GE and St. Luke’s, is valued at $30 million..
The CT scanners will come equipped with a suite of clinical applications and artificial intelligence technology, facilitated through GE HealthCare’s Smart Subscription. Integrating with St. Luke’s existing network, this solution will grant St. Luke’s access to cutting-edge CT technologies and solutions, enhancing the longevity of their devices while providing a consistently exceptional experience for patients.
Catherine Estrampes, GE HealthCare’s president and CEO for the U.S. and Canada, praised the deal, commenting: “GE HealthCare is honored to partner with St. Luke’s to provide cutting-edge CT technology across their network, coupled with regular software upgrades and updates to keep their CT fleet up to date. These updates will enable greater standardized care for their patients using the latest capabilities available without having to invest in additional new equipment to keep pace with the latest technology.”
Patients at St. Luke’s who undergo CT scans with this new technology can expect faster scans and sharper images, potential reductions in radiation dose, and enhanced fine-detail capture for critical stroke diagnoses, GE officials say. The scanners are also expected to benefit St. Luke’s pediatric patients, trauma cases, and advanced cardiac exams through GE HealthCare’s SnapShot Freeze technology. By combining rapid rotation speed and wide coverage, these scanners can image the heart in just one beat, reducing motion artifacts and minimizing the need for additional scanning.
Hal L. Folander, MD, network chairman of St. Luke’s radiology department, emphasizes the impact of this investment, stating, “We can now offer the most advanced CT technology to all of the communities we serve. This provides our patients with access to this technology no matter where they go for their St. Luke’s care. This investment also allows for a faster, more informed and accurate diagnosis, with less inconvenience to patients.”
