The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted 510(k) clearance to the Ysio Max, a digital radiography (DR) system from Siemens that offers multiple advances in x-ray (MAX) support features to provide rapid, high-quality imaging.

A MAXalign feature indicates the detector angle on the display screen to enable proper angling of the x-ray tube and eliminate repeat procedures, which can lead to increased costs and radiation dose. The MAXtouch display screen allows users to change parameters on the tube and generates status messages to guide the technologist, reducing the amount of time the patient must spend alone in the treatment room.

Three new detectors come in varied sizes to accommodate a range of uses.

  • MAX wi-D: Siemens’ lightest 14” x 17” wireless detector with a handle weighing 6.6 lbs and and .7” thick
  • MAX Mini: a 10” x 14” wireless detector weighing 3.5 lbs and .6” thick, designed for orthopedics, pediatrics, and trauma exams
  • MAX static detector: 17” x 17”, suitable for most patient types and exams.

A Maxswap feature also allows the MAX wi-D and MAX mini detectors to be used with other Siemens radiography, fluoroscopy, and urology systems. For more information, visit Siemens.
