CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution photo.jpgAfter becoming one of the first facilities to install a Carestream DRX-1 detector, AnMed Health System in Georgia has announced that the technology has performed better than expected. The facility installed a total of 15 imaging systems over the last 5 years.

“Carestream was ahead of the curve when they introduced the concept of the DRX detector and they have stayed at the forefront of technology by continuing to introduce new systems, new detectors, and new software for the DRX family,” said Cathy Atkins, radiology manager for AnMed Health. “At first we thought the capabilities were too good to be true, but I am happy to report the DRX systems have outperformed our expectations.”

AnMed Health retrofitted nine x-ray rooms and three mobile imaging systems with DRX detectors and installed two DRX-Revolution mobile x-ray systems and a dual-detector DRX-Evolution DR room. Carestream worked with radiologists and managers at the 690-bed health system to set protocols, ensuring image consistency across each DRX system. The systems also meet the demands of mobile imaging, which proves essential to providing high-quality care for critically ill and injured patients, Atkins said.

The DRX-Revolution systems serve the emergency department and critical care areas at AnMed Health’s main campus. “The collapsible column makes the machine much safer and easier to drive, and the positioning flexibility of the extendable tubehead helps our technologists capture excellent images of critical care patients in crowded conditions where we cannot move the patient or the bedside systems,” Atkins said.

In addition, the company’s x-factor feature allows hospital staff to interchange detectors with any DRX system. “This flexibility allows us to optimize utilization of our detectors across multiple systems and continue imaging if a detector becomes damaged,” Atkins said.
