New technologies offer opportunities for radiologists and technologists alike. Recently, the second class of radiation therapists received their advanced proton therapy certificates from Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington, Ind.
The group joins an elite cadre of just 300 proton therapists working in the nation; only 30 of those have proton radiation certificates. The lion’s share of this group work for ProCure Proton Therapy Center, and it was fitting that class’ graduation ceremony was held at the center’s Oklahoma City headquarters.
Ivy Tech’s is the nation’s first proton therapy certificate program. A portion of the curriculum was held at ProCure’s Bloomington-based training and development center, the only facility of its kind in the world, according to the company.
