HIMSS Analytics has awarded Beaumont Hospital Troy in Troy, Mich, its Stage 7 Award recognizing facilities that have successfully implemented and utilized information technology applications. In addition, 144 Beaumont Health System ambulatory clinics received Stage 7 Ambulatory Awards in acknowledgement of their advanced electronic patient record environment.

“Implementing an EHR is a journey, and the HIMSS Analytics Stage 7 designation is a true acknowledgement of the success of that journey for Beaumont Health System,” said Karie Lyon, vice president of information technology at Beaumont Health System. “This implementation was one of the best examples of true partnership between Beaumont IT and our clinicians and leaders. We are extremely proud of our clinicians in their adoption of technology and continued pursuit of excellence on behalf of our patients.”

A regional health system with three hospitals and 1,778 licensed beds, Beaumont Health System offers 54 community-based sites of care, including family practice and internal medicine practices, nursing centers, home care services, and hospice. The network recently announced plans to join with two other local healthcare systems to establish Beaumont Health.

“The Beaumont Health clinics we visited are among the most paperless Stage 7 clinics I’ve seen. We found only one piece of paper, and it will not be long before that paper disappears,” said John Daniels, vice president of strategic relations for HIMSS. “Also, they launched a PT/OT optimization project that has not only reduced the average length of stay for ICU patients by 3.2 days, but has also increased revenue by over $780,000 per year.”
