The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is accepting online nominations through October 10, 2014 for awards and scholarships that acknowledge significant contributions to the field of health IT.

The awards recognize volunteers and leaders who have furthered the improvement of healthcare through the use of information and management systems. This year, 12 awards will be issued in the fields of industry service, HIMSS service, publications, and chapters.

In addition, four scholarships granted by the HIMSS Foundation and three HIMSS chapter scholarships will be awarded to HIMSS student members demonstrating academic excellence and leadership potential in the healthcare information and management systems industry.

“The PhD scholarship provided recognition and enthusiasm to work devotedly towards my dissertation topic. As a result, I was awarded a NIH R-36 dissertation grant,” said Roosan Islam, PharmaD, a former recipient at the University of Utah.

Award recipients may be nominated on the HIMSS awards page. Students can apply for a HIMSS Foundation or HIMSS chapter scholarship on the HIMSS scholarship page. All materials are due by 5 p.m. Central time on Oct. 10.

Winners will be announced at the HIMSS awards banquet during the annual conference in Chicago April 12-16, 2015.
