May 22, 2007—A lawsuit brought by GE Healthcare, Waukesha, Wis, on May 15 against SonoSite Inc, Bothell, Wash, alleges that SonoSite’s compact ultrasound technology infringes on five patents held by GE.

GE seeks unspecified monetary damages and an injunction preventing SonoSite from selling the devices that allegedly infringe on GE’s patents, including two of the company’s biggest sellers, the Titan and the MicroMaxx.

SonoSite filed an infringement lawsuit against competitor Zonare Medical Systems Inc, Mountain View, Calif, earlier this year; Zonare countersued, and the case is pending.
