April 25, 2007—The American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO), Fairfax, Va, announced today the addition of two new staff members to its growing Health Policy Department.
Marsha Kaufman, most recently an account executive for consumer directed health plans at WellPoint Health Networks Inc, Indianapolis, joins ASTRO as Assistant Director of Health Policy, acting as the staff liaison to the Regulatory Committee and working on CPT activities with the American Medical Association, Chicago. Jesleen Papneja, fresh from an analysis position at VitalSpring Technologies Inc, McLean, Va, will serve as Health Policy Analyst.
“Marsha and Jesleen both have well-defined, accomplished backgrounds in health care policy that will most definitely benefit ASTRO’s membership,” said Laura I. Thevenot, CEO of ASTRO. “With their expertise, we can continue our work making certain that insurance companies and other payors have all the information necessary to ensure cancer patients have access to the life-saving radiation therapy treatments they need.”
