Barco has released a new 58-inch surgical display for 4K imaging in hybrid operating rooms and interventional suites. The MDSC-8258 replaces Barco’s previous MDSC-8156 model with increased brightness of 700 cd/m² and higher contrast ratio of 4000:1.

“Surgical teams are faced with a growing need for imaging solutions that centralize all critical information on one screen and make it visible to everyone in the room,” said Johan Stockman, vice president of strategic marketing surgical imaging for Barco. “The MDSC-8258’s large and ultra-high definition LCD screen offers a more efficient and flexible alternative to individual multi-monitor configurations deployed in interventional environments.”

A mercury-free, low-power LED backlight provides increased brightness with a longer lifetime. A reduced bezel size allows the display’s overall footprint to remain the same, despite a 2-inch increase in screen size. The 8 megapixel-resolution enables artifact-free, DICOM-compliant images to appear on a single screen. The MDSC-8258 is available in three versions: the standard model (MDSC-8258 L), a redundant power supply (MDSC-8258 RL) model, or a redundant power supply plus protective front glass (MDSC-8258 RLG) model.
