Sutter Health and GE HealthCare have announced a seven-year strategic partnership to enhance imaging services and streamline care delivery across the Sutter Health system. This collaboration will expand access to advanced diagnostic technologies throughout California, enabling quicker scheduling, faster imaging results, and improved care coordination for patients and clinicians.
The partnership focuses on several key areas, including accelerated access to innovative imaging technology, enhanced system interoperability, and an updated service delivery model to ensure reliable equipment availability. The collaboration aims to improve patient experience, increase diagnostic capacity, and provide consistent care across locations.
Inside the Partnership
Sutter Health will adopt imaging solutions, including PET/CT, MRI, CT, X-ray, and ultrasound, along with tools for interventional, maternal, and infant care. AI technology like GE HealthCare’s AIR Recon DL will improve MRI quality and efficiency.
“This partnership reinforces our commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative care to our 3.5 million patients,” says Warner Thomas, president and CEO of Sutter Health. “Upgrading our technology and expanding access points ensures patients receive seamless care across our system.”
The agreement also supports workforce development, providing ongoing training for clinicians, nurses, and technologists through Sutter Health University and partnerships with radiologic technologist schools. The initiative addresses the clinician shortage and enhances workforce readiness.
Expanding Care Facilities
Planned expansions include new care sites across Northern California, advanced service lines, and specialized centers for cancer, heart, and neurosciences. For example, Sutter Health is building a cancer center at Memorial Medical Center and opening flagship campuses in Silicon Valley.
