Dmitry Beyder, CNMT, MPA, radiology program manager of nuclear medicine, PET, CT and patient transport at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology in St. Louis, Missouri, has been elected as the 2022-23 president-elect for the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Technologist Section (SNMMI-TS). The new slate of officers was introduced during the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging’s 2022 Annual Meeting held June 11-14.

“The field of nuclear medicine is at a crossroads and will play a pivotal role in healthcare for the next generation,” said Beyder.  “With advancements in precision medicine and growth of technologist roles in novel imaging and therapy, the future for nuclear medicine technologists today is brighter than ever.” 

As SNMMI-TS president-elect, Beyder will focus on guiding technologists and the Technologist Section out of the COVID-19 pandemic. He will also work on strengthening the nuclear medicine technologist workforce and professional pipeline, as well as growing the role of nuclear medicine technologists in therapeutics, especially as theranostics continues to advance.

Beyder received his Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear medicine technology from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2003. He then went on to receive his Master of Public Administration degree, with a focus on health policy, management and international healthcare, from the New York University Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service in New York, New York.

Beyder was a nuclear medicine technologist at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and was clinical supervisor of nuclear medicine and PET at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon, before joining Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology. From 2007-2009, Beyder also served as the USA regional director for World Information Transfer, a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization in general consultative status with the United Nations.

Within SNMMI-TS, Dmitry Beyder has served on the SNMMI-TS Executive Board and the National Council of Representatives. He has chaired the SNMMI-TS Membership Committee, Advocacy Committee, Professional Development Task Force, and Scope of Practice Task Force. In addition, Beyder currently serves as an article reviewer for The Journal of Nuclear Medicine and the Journal of Nuclear Medicine Technology.

Beyder has received several awards throughout his career, including the SNMMI-TS 2021 Advocate of the Year Award and the SNMMI-TS 2016 and 2017 President’s Distinguished Service Awards. He has published four journal articles and has participated in 26 invited speaker presentations.

The SNMMI Technologist Section president for 2022-23 is Krystle W. Glasgow, MIS, CNMT, NMTCB(CT), NMAA, FSNMMI-TS, Birmingham, Alabama. Elected to leadership of SNMMI for 2022-23 were Munir Ghesani, MD, FACNM, FACR, New York, New York, as president; Helen Nadel, MD, FRCPC, Stanford, California, as president-elect; and Cathy Sue Cutler, PhD, FSNMMI, Upton, New York, as vice president-elect.
