PinkDrive, a nongovernment organization that typically provides gender-related cancer screening services in South Africa, is now offering its mobile vans and medical staff to bring COVID-19 testing to pandemic “hot spots” in that country.

“We are now entering a new phase in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Around 10,000 field workers will be visiting homes in villages, towns, and cities to screen residents for COVID-19 symptoms,” says South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa. Government will in the coming days roll out a large-scale screening, testing, tracing, and a medical management program, to manage the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Health Minister Zweli Mkhize explained the decision to intensify the testing of possible COVID-19 patients was aimed at drastically reducing local transmissions of the virus.

“Like all health professionals on the frontline of this pandemic we salute the PinkDrive medical staff and management who have selflessly taken up the challenge to provide these screening services to the South African communities,” says Noelene Kotschan, CEO and Founder of PinkDrive.
