At the recent Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) meeting in Long Beach, Calif, Viztek debuted its new Exa EHR platform. According to the company, the system is the first EHR embedded into a PACS, facilitating data exchanges as mandated by Meaningful Use.

“Considering that the majority of PACS today don’t have the database necessary to store and present data critical to meaningful use requirements, the Viztek Exa was built with functionalities that are more valuable than ever for forward-thinking radiologists preparing for the oncoming stages of Meaningful,” said Steve Deaton, vice president of Viztek. “Viztek is continuing to build relationships with customers based on our true, proactive innovation, to ensure they have the components necessary to meet the demands of a changing healthcare landscape before those mandates arrive.”

The Exa stores patient data transmitted through interfaces and displays it for radiologists, including the patient’s complete medical record. In addition, the system displays studies from any modality on a single workstation. A thin client server delivers updates more quickly and lowers maintenance and IT support costs. According to Viztek, the Exa is the first web-based, platform-agnostic EHR with full functionality at the browser-based level for all operating systems and devices.
