partnership_puzzleWhile pathology and radiology workflows have traditionally been independent of each other, a new partnership between telemedicine company vRad and financial solutions provider XIFIN Inc. is seeking to bring them together. The companies announced they will jointly create an online collaborative clinical workflow to facilitate consolidated diagnostic reports of radiology, pathology and clinical laboratory results.

The online solution will initially be designed to support referring oncologists and their patients.

By integrating all testing results and digital images from both diagnostic specialties, the CDR aims to break down current diagnostic silos and provide a more efficient, collaborative tool for physicians. Highlighting clinical discordance, the CDR gives pathologists and radiologists access to the full picture of patient diagnostics.

“Leading health institutions have proven that when radiologists and pathologists collaborate, patients get better care at lower costs to themselves and the healthcare system as a whole,” said Lâle White, CEO of XIFIN. “vRad built a patented workflow platform that made it possible to offer best-in-class radiology services on a truly global scale; XIFIN’s health economics optimization platform has achieved the same level of service and scalability within pathology. Together, we have an opportunity to better serve clinicians and their patients by combining our proven technology, collaboration and workflow platforms into something even more powerful.”

The partnership will combine XIFIN’s ProNet, a comprehensive online information and digital consultation forum for global pathology, and vRad’s patented advanced teleradiology PACS.

“XIFIN and vRad are uniquely positioned to innovate by combining our technology platforms and industry-leading clinical services to challenge and transform traditional diagnostic reporting,” said Jim Burke, President and CEO of vRad. “Our collaboration with XIFIN has many facets that can benefit radiology and pathology services. We see much potential to combine our clinical and technical expertise to improve coordinated care for physicians and their patients.”
