The New Medical Product Server, maker of the medical image software application suite OneDX, has announced plans to partner with Long Island Pathology (LI Path), a New York-based anatomic pathology laboratory, to create a combined reporting capability for the radiology and pathology specialties. The system will provide an integrated portal to allow physicians to view patient images, reports, and notes from a single channel.

Currently, the two disciplines operate on parallel reporting structures. Following a patient biopsy, pathology reports are delivered manually to radiologists for them to input additional findings into the report. By integrating the two disciplines into one system, the OneDX-LI Path platform can simplify the reporting process and speed workflow. An embedded flagging feature alerts physicians to critical results, such as cancer or serious abnormalities.

‘This is a breakthrough moment for the pathology and radiology specialties,” said Ken Cerney, chief executive officer of LI Path. “Never before has this sophistication of reporting been made available to physicians. I believe it has the capability to significantly enhance their work, as well as their ability to rely on accurate patient information from a single source without the risk of competing or conflicting interdepartmental reports.”
