BridgeHead Software has released a new version of its Health Data Management solution that includes a DICOM Archive Browser (DAB) and support for the SWIFT OpenStack Cloud storage standard. The updates aim to make the HDM platform a suitable tool for not only storing but accessing and managing the patient record.

The DAB administrative tool enables users to search the archive by patient metadata to view, retrieve, and send a study, series, or image to any DICOM workstation. Administrators can also manage Information Object Change Management (IOCM) requests in the archive to view hidden images.

“The DAB is a good indication of how BridgeHead is making the content that it stores, protects, and shares more accessible to the end-user,” said Tony Cotterill, chief product officer at BridgeHead Software. “This is a first step towards a more robust patient-centric offering which we plan to introduce later this year, enabling clinicians to view all types of data associated with a patient from a single well-organized view.”

The HDM also allows users to create offline copies of backups in the cloud using deduplication technologies such as HP StoreOnce. Such tools provide efficient transfer to cloud storage while simultaneously generating a (usually tape) backup copy for data protection.
