Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical in New York recently installed two Carestream DRX-Revolution mobile x-ray systems to help enhance patient care. One DRX-Revolution images ER patients and the other system is used for ICU and inpatients throughout the 306-bed acute-care, not-for-profit community hospital.

“The advanced functionality of the DRX-Revolution system allows our technologists to quickly and easily produce exceptionally high-quality images of seriously ill or injured patients,” said Chris Schneider, the hospital’s director of radiology imaging services. “Thanks to its powerful 32kW generator and DRX detector, we have lowered exposures, and the tube and grid alignment system simultaneously enhances image quality by facilitating grid use.”

Physicians use Carestream’s Tube & Line visualization software that instantly verifies placement of tubes and peripherally inserted central catheter lines. “Being able to verify the tubes and line placement in seconds is a huge improvement over waiting for CR images,” he said. “And this system reprocesses the original image, so we don’t need to perform a second exposure.”
