Cadwell Industries, Inc. introduced the Sierra NMUS1™ neuromuscular ultrasound device, which complements the recent Sierra 4 software upgrade. This software enhances the Sierra Summit device by integrating electromyography, nerve conduction studies, clinical evoked potentials, and neuromuscular ultrasound, combining neuromuscular ultrasound with electrodiagnostic testing.

Sierra NMUS1 Ultrasound

The new Sierra NMUS1 offers integrated neuromuscular and musculoskeletal ultrasound, including needle guidance, through the user-friendly Sierra 4 software interface. Cadwell offers three probe options—the L14-4 Linear Probe, HL18-4 Linear Hockey Stick Probe, and C-5-2 Curvilinear Probe—ensuring advanced diagnostic imaging and needle visualization.

Sierra 4 Software

The Sierra 4 software combines electrodiagnostic testing and ultrasound imaging, aiming to enhance examination efficiency, accuracy, and clinical potential. The software provides enhanced trace resolution, improved artifact reduction, and an interface with personalized workflows, test setups, and display options. Moreover, the Sierra Summit serves as an adaptable electrodiagnostic and imaging system catering to electromyographers seeking reliability and efficiency.

The NMUS+ protocol integrates ultrasound into the electrodiagnostic process, being the first software of its kind tailored for neuromuscular ultrasound and sharing workflow elements with NCS+ and EMG+. An additional feature, Q-Mode, serves as a research tool for ultrasonic diagnostics and tissue quantification.

With the NMUS+ software, electromyographers can:

  • Compare results with normal or contralateral values
  • Automatically label results and images
  • Measure, annotate, and save images and cine loops
  • Utilize advanced speckle reduction, edge enhancement, and spatial compounding for optimized imaging
  • Generate comprehensive reports containing both electrodiagnostic and imaging findings
