MR Solutions recently displayed its cryogen-free 3T and 7T preclinical MRI imaging solutions at the 20th annual scientific meeting of the British chapter of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. The meeting was held September 4 – 5, 2014 in Edinburgh.
MR Solutions manufactures preclinical MRI technology and was the first company to develop a commercial cryogen-free 3T range of preclinical bench top MRI scanners in 2012, as well as a 7T range in 2014.
“We are always looking at ways to go one step further and have developed multi-modality technology incorporating SPECT and PET, with optical technology also due,” said David Taylor, CEO of MR Solutions. He attributes the company’s success to the development of a cooling system for the superconducting magnet, “which does away with the need for the expensive and cumbersome cryogen cooling system,” he said.
“This has also allowed us to reduce the stray magnetic field to only a few centimeters, rather than meters. Now that multi-modality technology can be used in the same room it makes it so much easier for researchers to produce multifaceted research results,” he added.
MR Solutions has completed more than 1,000 installations throughout the world. The company also recently launched a division to refurbish or upgrade older preclinical MRI systems with its EVO Spectrometer for improved performance.
