October 4, 2006—The FDA has granted 510(k) market clearance to Rendoscopy Inc (Holtsville, NY) for its Gentle Colon virtual colonoscopy application. This software enables radiologists to visualize the internal structure of a patient’s colon using reconstructions based on CT data.

“We are ramping up sales operations quickly to address the requirements of several potential customers in USA,” said Mudi Ramesh, Director of Business Development at Rendoscopy. “Judging by the overwhelming response received at RSNA the past two years, we expect to grow very quickly in the North American market just like we have done in Europe.”

Gentle Colon boasts fast rendering speeds, batch processing, and traditional 2D and 3D views plus a unique split-colon view on a single user interface. Rendoscopy is a spin-off of a product developed by Maximilian F. Reiser, MD, at the Institute for Clinical Radiology of the Grosshadern Hospital of the Ludwig-Maximilian-University Munich.
