Medicine can often be a bitter pill, and that’s particularly true for oral iodinated contrast. In response to clinical requests for a more palatable contrast agent, Beekley Corporation developed Breeza.

The flavored Breeza is designed to mask the taste of oral iodinated contrast used in CT abdominal studies. The tropical fruit-flavored beverage comes in a patient friendly, 16 oz under-filled bottle to which contrast can be easily added by a technologist.

According to a Beekley press release, Breeza’s effectiveness in masking the taste of the oral contrast agent has saved a significant amount of time and energy that would be needed to coax patients to drink the contrast, employ NG tubes, or have to perform a rescan.
