MedCurrent has announced that Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia will begin using the company’s OrderRight Radiology Decision Support system to support its imaging operations and cut down on its diagnostic costs. Einstein is a 664-bed tertiary care teaching hospital that currently relies on the Cerner Corporation’s Millennium electronic medical record system (EMR).

“Utilizing OrderRight is consistent with our strategy to optimize data and technology in clinical decision-making and management,” said Terence Matalon, MD, chief of radiology at Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia. “In addition, it supports the impending regulatory changes that focus on quality outcomes and reduced costs. We chose OrderRight because of its physician-intuitive design, ability to customize rule sets, its post-ordering analytics and its deep integration with our EMR.”

OrderRight’s integration with Cerner’s system incorporates rule sets that make patient-specific recommendations and offers clinical analysis when the physician orders a procedure. The Rule Authoring Studio within OrderRight allows guidelines to be customized depending on local standards of practice. A data analytics module also reviews compliance at macro and micro levels for planning and medical purposes.
