The Department of Radiology and Imaging at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City has announced the appointment of Hollis G. Potter, MD, as its new chairman. Potter succeeds Helene Pavlov, MD, and will oversee 250 physicians, researchers, and specialists in her new role. The musculoskeletal care powerhouse performs approximately 300,000 imaging examinations each year.

Potter, a 22-year veteran of HSS, notes that the facility is in a position to lead the field with breakthrough innovations. “We are one of the major clinical and scientific collaborators in orthopedic applications for General Electric, as well as several additional companies, and collectively, we are constantly innovating and implementing new techniques and equipment,” Potter said. “In addition, our research imaging scientists are responsible for many of the most significant developments in radiology and imaging in the last ten years. Our teams are constantly optimizing the ability to image the earliest signs of a musculoskeletal condition, disease progression, and/or healing.”

HSS was founded in 1863. The US News and World Report currently ranks HSS first in the country in orthopedics. For more information, visit HSS.
