For many health care enterprises, 3D intraoperative imaging is prohibitively expensive to implement, but a new technology may make this advanced visualization method a possibility for every facility in the United States.

Mazor Surgical Technologies Ltd.’s C-InSight can transform any 2D C-Arm into a 3D intraoperative imaging system. The C-InSight allows surgeons to revise their work intraoperatively, significantly reducing the need for revision surgeries and decreasing post-surgical pain, disability, and extensive rehabilitation for the patient, according to a company press release.

But perhaps the most attractive aspect of the C-InSight is its price. It costs about one tenth of other 3D technologies. This means that, no matter the budget constraints, it could be added to a hospital or outpatient surgical center with little fiscal impact.
