Houston-based Swearingen Software, a RIS provider, is holding an essay contest to give away its RISynergy software to a hospital or clinic radiology department that is in financial need. This prize includes the RISynergy software, installation and training, and 1 year of customer support for free.

Randall Swearingen, president and CEO of Swearingen Software, explained in the announcement, “We have been so fortunate to be a part of the health care industry for over a quarter of a century doing what we do best: providing the best Radiology Information System in the market. Because of our good fortune, we want to give back to the health care industry that has supported us for so long. This is our way of helping with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.”

The contest is accepting entries now through December 31, 2009. To enter, go to http://www.swearingensoftware.com/HardshipRISTermsandConditions.html and complete the form. The winner will be announced on February 1, 2010.
In terms of the parameters, according to the press release, “At the bottom, explain why your facility would be the best candidate and how it could most benefit from a new Radiology Information System. A combination of current clients and Swearingen staff will then review the submissions and make the final decision.”

Axis Imaging News will also follow this contest and report about the results.
