May 31, 2007—Carestream Health Inc, Rochester, NY, and Hitachi Data Systems, Santa Clara, Calif, recently announced an agreement to co-market a new data management solution that will enable health care organizations to efficiently archive clinically relevant information from multiple systems.

The solution brings together Carestream’s Versatile Intelligent Patient Archive (VIParchive) and Hitachi’s Content Archive Platform. VIParchive is a software platform that takes clinical information from multiple sources and consolidates it; the Content Archive Platform delivers automated policy management while allowing rapid access to archived data when needed.

"The growth in storage is faster in health care than any other vertical market, yet the infrastructure maturity in these organizations is believed to be some three to five years behind the industry average," said Jack Domme, executive vice president, Global Solutions, Strategy and Development, at Hitachi. "Working with Carestream Health, we are helping companies meet the data access and performance challenges which can directly impact the quality of patient care."
