Digital imaging company Canon USA has acquired Virtual Imaging, of Deerfield Beach, Fla.

Established in 1995, Virtual Imaging has more than 100 employees, including a national sales and service organization. The company serves large complex hospital organizations, imaging centers and private physician offices, and is the national distributor of Canon’s digital radiography systems.

“Canon and Virtual Imaging have had a long-standing relationship that has benefited both companies over the years,” said Joe Adachi, president and chief executive officer, Canon U.S.A.  “This acquisition will position Canon well for future growth in the medical imaging and health care marketplace. Having Virtual Imaging join the Canon family will allow us to better offer a comprehensive line of cost-effective Canon certified medical imaging solutions and services that can be fully integrated into an organization’s workflow and improve patient throughput.”

Tim Martinson, president of Virtual Imaging, will continue to manage the day-to-day operations of the organization, and report directly to Adachi.  “This is a really exciting time to be involved with Canon in the medical imaging market,” Martinson said. “Canon has distinguished itself in the marketplace as a DR innovator, and we expect the company to continue to be a leader with its future products and innovations.”
