With imaging costs a major portion of national healthcare spending, radiology has been targeted for reimbursement reductions, utilization management, and provider risk assumption. Compensation models from the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPac) suggest that radiology compensation will still outstrip every other specialty even if radiologists are reimbursed 100% at Medicare rates.
