Jordan Bazinsky, CEO of Intelerad, has spent the past year leading the company through significant changes. His focus has been on advancing cloud-based solutions, integrating AI, and refining the brand to better meet the needs of healthcare providers. Today, he shares his insights on the future of Intelerad and the medical imaging industry.

AXIS Imaging News: With a year at Intelerad under your belt, what is your vision for the company’s product roadmap over the next five years?

Jordan Bazinsky: As I reflect on my first year as CEO, I’m excited to share my vision for Intelerad’s future. Over the next five years, our product roadmap will focus on a few key areas, including cloud-based imaging solutions and artificial intelligence (AI).

Intelerad is leveling up its SaaS cloud offerings. In addition to cloud-based medical imaging systems, medical records storage, and image-processing functions provided by cloud-based servers, we’re prioritizing integration of advanced analytics to optimize the ability for providers to gain actionable insights from medical images. Cloud-native applications will also enhance interoperability and scalability.

Furthermore, we are committed to leveraging AI partnerships that integrate advanced technologies to enhance diagnostic accuracy, leading to better patient outcomes. These collaborations will improve capabilities for streamlining image analysis, reducing diagnostic errors, prioritizing critical studies, and facilitating faster decision-making processes. These are already crucial in acute-care settings, and demand is expected to rise.

Our plans are also geared toward improving integration within hospital ecosystems and EHRs, particularly in critical-care markets. By enhancing workflows for radiologists and fostering better collaboration among specialists, we can make medical imaging services more responsive and effective, especially when supporting critical areas such as trauma care and labor and delivery.

Bazinsky: Several emerging trends will transform medical imaging in the coming years, but I believe AI-powered solutions, personalized medicine, and imaging data analytics will have the most significant impact. AI will revolutionize image analysis, enabling faster and more accurate diagnoses.

Plus, AI-compatible solutions can help alleviate radiologist burnout and global staff shortages by automating routine tasks, streamlining workflows, and prioritizing image reads so clinicians can focus on the most complex cases. Personalized medicine will become increasingly important as imaging solutions adapt to individual patient needs. Imaging data analytics will unlock valuable insights, enabling healthcare providers to optimize image acquisition, improve patient outcomes, and reduce costs. In the next few years, these trends will drive innovation in medical imaging.

As these developments continue, though, platform providers must consider the design of their products. To keep pace with industry trends, solution configuration is critical. Care providers need customization capabilities to personalize their interactions with the solutions that help them do their jobs. To ensure a meaningful upfront user experience, it’s imperative that technology providers constantly take stock of industry trends, demands, and needs so challenges can be anticipated and proactively addressed via new and enhanced solutions.

AXIS: Can you share more details about the recent successful implementations of Intelerad’s solutions at major health systems, and what lessons were learned?

Bazinsky: Intelerad shares an enormous responsibility to support some of the largest healthcare systems in the world that provide life-saving treatments for countless patients every day. We’re thrilled about our most recent implementations at prominent health systems in Michigan and the Southeastern United States. These partnerships demonstrate our commitment to delivering scalable, flexible, and interoperable medical imaging solutions.

The implementations involved our flagship PACS and other enterprise imaging solutions, such as Clario SmartWorklist, a cloud-based vendor-neutral workflow orchestrator that provides a sole source for managing all imaging workflows and patient data. The unique combination of high-velocity reading, cloud-first capability, and vendor-neutral interoperability with other information systems sets Intelerad apart, enabling seamless integration across diverse healthcare ecosystems.

Key takeaways from these projects include the importance of collaborative planning with the health system’s team, customized training, and dedicated support. By prioritizing these elements, we ensured successful go-lives, minimized disruptions, and maximized user satisfaction.

AXIS: How is Intelerad addressing the current challenges faced by the healthcare industry, such as financial strain, burnout, and staff shortages?

Bazinsky: Financial strain, burnout, and staff shortages have contributed to the significant challenges facing healthcare providers today around the world. To address these problems, we’re focusing on solutions that streamline workflows, reduce costs, and enhance user experiences.

Our software is designed to automate tasks, eliminate unnecessary steps, and provide actionable insights that can ultimately increase productivity and reduce burnout. Additionally, our cloud-based solutions offer scalable and cost-effective options for healthcare organizations of all sizes, helping to alleviate financial strain across the industry. We’re committed to supporting our clients with flexible solutions, dedicated support, and strategic partnerships to navigate these and any other challenges that arise.

Our AI-compatible medical imaging tools include prioritization capabilities that can optimize operations by identifying critical studies and escalating them to the top of radiologists’ worklists. This smart resource allocation accelerates diagnosis and enables clinicians to concentrate on high-priority cases, delivering timely and precise results. In addition to organizing worklists, AI-driven automation enhances radiology workflows by streamlining reporting and quality control processes. By augmenting radiologists’ expertise with its analytical prowess, Intelerad equips healthcare professionals to quickly tackle complex, high-value tasks.

AXIS: What prompted Intelerad’s recent new brand, and how do you think it will influence the company’s market presence and customer perception?

Bazinsky: We like to think of the next chapter of our story as a reimagined and refined brand identity that more accurately encapsulates our commitment to simplifying the search for answers for both clinicians and patients. “Intelerad Reimagined” is an evolution that reinvigorates our market presence, encourages client engagement, and more effectively reflects our values and mission. By reimagining the brand, Intelerad aims to reinforce our position as a forward-thinking, client-focused medical imaging software company, dedicated to delivering solutions that meet healthcare providers’ evolving needs.

In addition to our reimagined visual identity, we’ve simplified our product offerings, enhanced support experiences, and updated product suite names to improve clarity and simplicity in the market. As an example, our newest solution, InteleShare, is a cloud-based platform that streamlines the management and sharing of medical imaging data among healthcare professionals.

It facilitates the secure exchange of data across geographies without the need for CDs or virtual private networks. The solution features a user-friendly interface for accessing and viewing images and automated workflows to accelerate diagnosis and treatment. Other solutions have undergone similar updates, and more expansions are planned.
