The outpatient imaging provider says the rollout is aimed at improving image quality and reducing scan times across a mix of MRI systems.
SimonMed announced it is deploying AIRS Medical’s SwiftMR, a US Food and Drug Administration-cleared artificial intelligence (AI) software for MRI enhancement, across its nationwide network.
The company says the decision followed an evaluation of multiple MRI AI platforms as part of a broader effort to standardize imaging quality and workflows across its sites.
According to a release from SimonMed Imaging, imaging providers are facing increasing demand for MRI exams while working to maintain diagnostic quality. SimonMed says it expects the software to help reduce scan times and improve image clarity across its multi-vendor MRI fleet.
“AI in imaging has reached a point where it can meaningfully elevate both the quality and accessibility of care, but only if deployed thoughtfully at scale,” said Sean Raj, MD, chief medical officer and chief innovation officer at SimonMed.
He adds that the company evaluated multiple vendors before selecting AIRS Medical’s platform, citing image quality and performance across different scanner environments.
SimonMed operates one of the larger outpatient imaging networks in the US, with a mix of MRI systems from different manufacturers. The company said SwiftMR’s vendor-neutral design allows it to be deployed across those systems without requiring additional hardware.
The rollout is part of SimonMed’s broader effort to incorporate AI tools into imaging workflows, including applications tied to both diagnostic imaging and preventive care programs, according to the release.
