Newport Beach, Calif.-based Candelis Inc., a leading provider of innovative and cost-effective enterprise healthcare solutions, and GE Healthcare, the healthcare business unit of General Electric, have announced a collaboration to enhance the mammography workflow, image management, and storage capabilities for the Senographe Pristina Mammography System.
The two companies are collaborating to build an efficient workflow environment for mammography and tomosynthesis images. GE will now offer the Candelis ImageGrid suite of products in the United States and Canada, including ImageGrid, ImageGrid Mini, and ImageGrid Plus, with the Senographe Pristina Mammography System, with the aim of providing an answer to the data management challenges created by the large amount of data generated by 3D imaging.
“Candelis provides a robust breast imaging platform for managing the 3D mammography imaging workflow to optimize clinical performance and response time to patients,” says Poornima Srinivasan Transformational Health-Medical Imaging Consultant at Frost & Sullivan. “Managing the IT infrastructure behind the mammography modality will provide strategic advantages for Candelis’ partners.”
The collaboration is designed to help clinicians overcome productivity challenges by simplifying the clinical process through scalable breast imaging transfer and storage solutions for high-volume and complex diagnostic workflows. Accordingly, the ImageGrid products will provide pre-fetching, routing, interface, and archiving functionality for the breast imaging environments.
“Our goal is to help customers improve patient outcomes and reduce the time it takes to receive images for diagnosis,” adds Catherine Lezy, general manager of Mammography at GE Healthcare. “By using the Senographe Pristina in conjunction with the Candelis products, we hope to help clinicians overcome these productivity challenges and help patients receive their diagnosis faster.”
“We are excited to collaborate with GE Healthcare to provide our products to a growing number of customers. The ImageGrid suite of products, in conjunction with the Senographe Pristina, will provide GE’s customers a highly optimized breast informatics platform for automating and simplifying mammography workflows, while improving business efficiency,” says Robert Van Uitert, PhD, Vice President of Marketing at Candelis.
The Candelis portfolio consists of image management, routing, and archiving solutions to optimize medical image workflow and storage. ImageGrid provides a feature-rich and scalable enterprise image management platform for end-to-end support of radiology workflows. ImageGrid Mini offers a robust and cost-effective PACS on a single small footprint hardware platform. ImageGrid Plus is an enterprise class data management server ideal for facilities with a heavy image volume environment.
