Siemens has announced a new floor-mounted angiography system designed for broad clinical use featuring flexible positioning and a small footprint. The Artis one is intended for routine interventions such as revascularizations of peripheral arterial or venous occlusions, functional tests of dialysis shunts in patients with kidney failure, diagnostic angiographies of narrowed coronary arteries, and pacemaker implantations. The system is still under FDA review.

According to Siemens, the Artis one occupies only 269 square feet—approximately 45% less space than comparable floor-mounted systems—while accommodating patients at heights of up to 6 feet, 10 inches. A 30-inch monitor offers expanded display over the standard 19 inches. Tactile console buttons can be manipulated under the sterile covering, and several axes allow users to easily position the system and reach patients.

The Artis one will also come equipped with the Clearstent Live application, previously only available on the Artis Q and Artis Q.zen models, which allows physicians to accurately place stents during interventional cardiology. Its Megalix x-ray tube generates a current of up to 250 milliamperes (mA), producing high-quality, high-contrast images. At the same time, the system offers a 20% energy savings over previous models.
