There are numerous ways to keep patients safe during their imaging exams. One of those is a dosimeter. And Connecticut X-Ray hopes that a patient skin dosimeter from Unfors will be part of radiology departments’ and imaging centers’ safety arsenal.

The Bantam, Connecticut-based company recently entered into an agreement to distribute the Swedish-made dosimeter.

According to a Connecticut X-Ray press release, the Unfors patient skin dosimeter (PSD) consists of up to four unique, small sensors that can be placed anywhere on the body and will leave a minimal artifact on the x-ray image. Each sensor displays the accumulated dose and exposure time. Audible and visual alarms are triggered when selected or critical dose limits are exceeded.

The PSD is designed for use in CT and fluoroscopy procedures.
