Vscan w Dual Probe 400GE Healthcare has introduced the Vscan with Dual Probe, a pocket-sized ultrasound tool that offers two transducers within a single probe. The first-in-market system allows physicians to attain both shallow and deep views of the body without exchanging probes, speeding workflow in triage and other point-of-care settings.

“It builds on our experience in the global pocket ultrasound market to solve our customers’ biggest clinical and economic challenges,” said Ajay Parkhe, general manager of primary care ultrasound for GE Healthcare. “Just like the current Vscan, this new device is ultra-portable, very easy to use, has excellent image quality, and allows the clinician to take a quick look, non-invasively, inside the patient. In addition, the Dual Probe version combines the sector probe with a linear probe in one device to conduct most of the standard ultrasound scans within minutes.”

The Vscan with Dual Probe is suitable for a range of emergency care procedures, such as inserting central or peripheral lines or completing focused heart and lung assessment exams, and hospital exams such as bedside cardiac evaluations or admission/discharge assessments. In the obstetric arena, the Vscan can be useful for visualization of fetal heartbeats or fetal position and assessment of maternal status.

“The past 5 years have demonstrated that miniaturized, portable ultrasound technology like Vscan can have a tremendous impact on the practice of healthcare in developing and developed nations,” said Anders Wold, president and CEO of GE Ultrasound. “We hope with our new Vscan with Dual Probe we have made the use of ultrasound at the point of care, simple and fast all the while helping healthcare providers improve access to impactful medical technology.”
