Torrance, Calif.-based Shimadzu Medical Systems USA has acquired Kenmore, Wash.-based Core Medical Imaging, Inc. in a bid to strengthen its position in the North American medical imaging market. Since 2000, Core Medical Imaging has served as an authorized dealer of medical imaging services and products, including Shimadzu’s, in the Pacific Northwest.
As the average life expectancy grows, medical imaging technology and systems are gaining a more significant role in supporting healthier lives throughout this aging society by detecting diseases earlier, diagnosing more precisely ,and supporting less invasive treatments to minimize the patients’ burden while maximizing their quality of life, Shimadzu officials say.
As such, investing in Core Medical Imaging will help Shimadzu “strengthen and expand their direct involvement in the North American healthcare market and contribute to better personal health with premium medical systems and unique technologies,” they add.
