At the upcoming meeting of the Radiological Society of North America, Toshiba America Medical Systems will display its FDA-cleared Celesteion PET/CT system designed for radiation and oncology imaging, including tumor detection, treatment evaluation, and CT simulation scans.

“Toshiba puts its customers first by providing innovative solutions that consistently deliver accurate and efficient results while improving workflow for providers,” said Satrajit Misra, senior director of the CT business unit for Toshiba. “We are introducing Celesteion because we know there is a specific need for a PET/CT system that puts patients first.”

A large bore helps ensure a feeling of openness and enables flexible patient positioning. The system also offers accurate lesion detection with 450-ps timing resolution, a 70-cm field of view, enhanced spatial resolution with 4-mm PET crystals, 0.5-mm CT detector elements, and rapid exam times with 20-cm PET Z-axis coverage. The Celesteion can perform diagnostic CT imaging, CT interventions, PET/CT imaging, and CT radiation oncology simulation scans. The system also includes Toshiba’s AIDR 3D CT dose reduction technology and conforms to the requirements of MITA’s XR-29 Smart Dose Standard.
