Royal Philips will unveil its next-generation 1.5T BlueSeal MR wide-bore scanner at RSNA 2024. This new scanner features a 70 cm wide-bore design and integrates AI-enabled MR Smart Workflow solutions to enhance diagnostic confidence, increase patient throughput, and improve access to quality imaging in high-demand healthcare environments.

AI-Driven Smart Reading Technology

Philips’ Smart Reading technology integrates imaging and reading directly on the scanner. In partnership with icometrix for neurological conditions like Alzheimer’s and Multiple Sclerosis, and Quibim for prostate cancer, the AI-based toolset generates automated quantitative reports, driving precision diagnosis to a new level.

Eco-Friendly Design

The BlueSeal MRI offers helium-free operations, making it the lightest 1.5T 70 cm MRI system available, according to the company. Weighing up to 1,700 kg less and requiring no vent pipe, it allows installation in diverse settings, including locations with construction or logistical constraints, improving accessibility to MRI services.

“Since launching helium-free operations in 2018, Philips has installed over 1,500 BlueSeal systems worldwide, including mobile units,” says Ioannis Panagiotelis, PhD, Global Business Leader MRI at Philips. “Our latest scanner applies AI across the MRI workflow—from patient set-up to diagnostics and reporting—enabling wider access to quality imaging across various healthcare settings.”
