Shina Systems, Caesariea, Israel, has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its 3Di medical imaging advanced (3D/4D) visualization software. The cloud-based solution downloads over the Internet and provides a full suite of image processing and clinical analysis applications on any PC. Features include general multimodality 3D reformations (MPR, MIP, Volume Rendering, and related techniques), cardiac CT analysis, CT calcium scoring (WIP), virtual colonoscopy, and PET/CT fusion (WIP). With its thin client architecture, 3Di allows medical imaging studies to be securely shared among hospitals, physicians, and patients with HIPAA compliance. The 3Di solution has no upfront costs, but instead has pay-per-use pricing that uses a facility?s existing hardware and networks.

FUJIFILM Medical Systems, Stamford, Conn, has received FDA clearance for its Fuji Digital Radiography (FDR) AcSelerate system. The FDR AcSelerate is a fully automated digital table and upright system that includes unique design elements and fast image cycle times to help imaging departments increase efficiency and maximize productivity. The AcSelerate system uses an amorphous selenium technology that is coupled with advanced image processing for improved clarity, sharpness, and contrast. The AcSelerate also features a dose area product meter (DAP) that is available for monitoring patient dose per exam and total dose per study. In addition, a fully automated table and upright system can be properly positioned for almost any general radiography exam with a single button. The unit provides image preview in 2 seconds with cycle times of 4 seconds. There is also a new FDX console workstation that can alert technologists when exams are ready to expose.

EHR-M3 CR Mammography Screen from Carestream Health

Carestream Health Inc, Rochester, NY, is launching its new EHR-M3 screen for its CR mammography imaging systems. The EHR-M3 features reduced noise and a higher detector quantum efficiency (DQE) for improved image quality. The new screen is designed to replace previous screens used with DIRECTVIEW CR Mammography Systems that are equipped with the company?s Mammography Feature. The Mammography Feature is now available in Canada, Europe, South America, Australia, Asia, and other regions of the world where approved for use. The EHR-M3 screen offers a 20% reduction in noise and is now included in the company?s mammography cassettes in both 18 x 24 cm (8 x 10 inch) and 24 x 30 cm (10 x 12 inch) sizes. In addition, the new screen is compatible with thousands of existing DIRECTVIEW CR 850/950/975 and DIRECTVIEW Classic and Elite CR systems currently used for mammography applications.
