Vizinex RFID, a manufacturer of high-performance RFID tags, has launched a new UHF RFID tag, the Sentry Slim Shortie. Designed to be mounted on metal surfaces, the tag provides 96-bit EPC memory plus 512-bit user memory. The operating temperature ranges from -50°C to 85°C.

“We expect customers to be very pleased with our new Slim Shortie,” said Phil Koppenhofer, VP of sales and marketing for Vizinex. “Customers have expressed a strong interest in a small footprint mount-on-metal tag with a respectable read range. In many cases customers are looking for alternatives to very expensive ceramic tags.”

The Slim Shortie measures 26mm x 10.9mm x 2.8mm and weighs 2 grams. It has a read range of 6 to 8 feet and a footprint of less than 0.5 square inches.

“The tag can be upgraded for high-temperature and high-impact environments, and so can be applied to autoclaved medical assets. We are very optimistic that the Slim Shortie will receive wide customer acceptance quickly,” Koppenhofer said.
