The US Defense Department has extended its 6-year contract with Carestream Health to purchase digital radiography (DR) and computed radiography (CR) imaging systems. The contract includes the US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, US Marine Corps, and federal agencies, and allows the government to spend up to $70.2 million through December 15, 2014.

Carestream’s products include a line of digital radiography systems that provide radiologists and physicians with access to x-ray images as well as wireless detectors compatible with both new and existing room-based and mobile imaging systems. The DR detectors can be moved throughout a facility and are compatible with non-Carestream systems to reduce costs. The CR systems range from tabletop models to high-volume, multi-cassette systems. Both the DR and CR systems run on the same user interface.
